A Generous Offer is a quest in Divinity: Original Sin 2.
Quick walkthrough[]
- Speak to Ryker.
- Acquire the tablet he seeks from the ancient temple in the black pits cave.
- Speak to Ryker.
Detailed walkthrough[]
You can access Ryker's mansion either by taking the path from the well accessed by following the road behind the bridge-keeper's house and going up to his cellar, in which case you will be confronted by a talking skull (through which Ryker is speaking) before being able to ascend the steps, or you can talk to or destroy a door to the mansion, either way the answer which will have the Godwoken welcomed is the truth that you are a Godwoken seeking to expand their source power. However, selecting another dialogue option will not have a permanent consequence, as the player can still talk to Ryker, who will know you are a Godwoken even if you did not let him know that before talking to him directly.
He will explain that he seeks a tablet from a cave in the black pits and that he will increase your capacity for source if you bring it to him. The reason he gives for not going to get it himself is because that would involve going up against the magisters. The reason he gives for wanting it is vague at first, simply claiming it is a powerful artefact and that it is safer in his hands than in the hands of the magisters which presumably appeals to the fact that the magisters are naturally an enemy of the Godwoken, when pushed further he says it is going to serve him as a collector's item.
Upon taking the path straight after getting to the railway in the black pits cave, you will encounter magisters and black ring members along with them. You can make the fight with them easier by killing the white magister who is controlling the minds of the black ring members, making them fight each other. After finishing this, destroy the stone wall leading to the ancient temple, which can be done more quickly by utilizing the barrels around it to cause an explosion. In the ancient temple, interact with the pillars for each of the seven gods in the following order, which is also (cryptically) indicated by the writing looted off the corpse on the platform overlooking the lower area.
Once this is done, you can trigger the fight with Aetera and then loot the tablet from the left eternal container. You can now return to Stonegarden.
Upon entering the northern room on the ground floor of Ryker's mansion the second time, a masked servant will hand you a note written by Ryker telling you to take a nearby hatch to an underground chamber if you have the tablet in your possession.
You can give Ryker the tablet and receive the source power, tell him to first fulfill his end of the deal then once he does give him the tablet or refuse and say you will keep it, decide that the black ring-related contract you found means he is not to be trusted and therefore fight him or use the hero tag to interrupt the source ritual once it has started. Because of the contract — the same one the lone wolves have taken — no dialogue option can lead to you avoiding combat with him, and you will need to run away or defeat him. Once he is dead, his masked servants will disappear.
