Ability Points (AP) are points that are used to determine the available number of moves a character can take during a turn. This statistic was first introduced in Divinity: Original Sin and returned in Divinity: Original Sin 2]]. In Original Sin the initial, total and recharge per turn is statistically derived, in Original Sin 2 these figures are generally fixed.

Used for skills, movement and environmental interaction during combat, ability point requirements are partially derived from other factors, such as character & weapon level, points invested in Speed or weapon/armour modifiers to Movement.

Original Sin 2 introduced a secondary form of AP, Source Points (SP), which allow the use of Source based abilities. Each character has a maximum of three points available; however, these do not recharge over time, but through the acquisition of Source.
