The Champions of Aleroth are a military order formed after the Great War between 1244 and 1250 AD.

Background[]

Their primary goal is to protect and further the interests of Aleroth and its citizens. They are often at odds with seekers from the New Order, due to their long standing rivalry. [1][2][3]

In 1300 AD, the order's coverage included Orobas Fjords, where they have an outpost and have active operations in Rivertown and Broken Valley.[4] Their main base of operations, Aleroth is besieged by the undead given rise by the long deceased Engineer and the attacks from the Black Ring's Flying Fortresses. Their faith is shaken throughout the ranks to the point that even their generals doubt their ability to push back the Ring.[5]

In additional to their military plight, the Champions also face internal troubles. From corrupt generals who feel themselves to be above the law to spies within their midst.

Structure[]

Champions are known to have formed several subsects or enclaves. One of these enclaves was the infamous Order of the Viper whose name was born out of the viper prominently featured in Aleroth's coat-of-arms. They were known to operate mainly in the city itself, ruthlessly dispatching then-blooming underworld syndicates; these methods later to their disbandment. [6]

Another known enclave which used to operate exclusive on Aleroth grounds were the Deep Dwellers, this detachment of Champions was made in the first days of Aleroth's reconstruction. Officially their objective was to roam the catacombs beneath the city; safeguarding the citizens from the evils that dwell there. Unofficially they were tasked with hunting for ancient treasures. This faction of the champions was wiped out by an as yet unidentified terror, leading to their disbandment and the forbidding of entry to the catacombs.[7]
