Companions are characters which may accompany the main player character in Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Origin characters[]

All of origin companions are first met on Merryweather and can be recruited later when the main character reaches Fort Joy. After the main character escapes Fort Joy they can be recruited one last time on the Lady Vengeance. However after Lady Vengeance departs the Godwoken that are not part of the main characters party will be killed and resurrected as undead sworn to the God King in the Academy of the Seven where they will fight the main character in the Arena of the One.

The Godwoken that have been dismissed from party after departing Fort Joy can be recruited once more on the Lady Vengeance.

Fane[]

Fane introducing himself
You woke up and your world was gone. The last of your kind, you hide behind a charmed mask, searching for the truth about a history that no-one knew existed.

Fane is an Eternal scholar first encountered reading book in elven disguise within the Merryweather (x: 60,y: -233). At Fort Joy he can be found within Hidden Alcove where he attempts to carve out a face of a corpse in order to craft a mask (x:273, y:274). At Lady Vengeance before departing Fort Joy, he can be found standing in the Cabin (X:279, Y:596).

Fane's origin quest is A Scholar from Times Past. Deity that chose Fane as her champion is Amadia. His default class is a Wizard.

Ifan ben-Mezd is an ex-paladin turned Lone Wolf mercenary he was captured by Magisters when he took Drudanae and summoned a wolf into the Undertavern. On Merryweather he can be found standing near magister Viktar. On Fort Joy he can be found near the entrance to the Fort Joy Ghetto (X:204, Y:136) where he is defending elven woman Elodi from Griff's thugs. At Lady Vengeance before departing Fort Joy, Ifan can be found in the Cabin behind the stairs leading on the upper deck (X:329, Y:579).

His default class is a Wayfarer and his origin quest is A Wolf Alone. He is also the current champion of Rhalic.

After the ship sinks she can be found in front of Lucian's statue within the Fort Joy Ghetto (X:203, Y:166).

Originally a champion of Rhalic she is forced to follow demonic influence on her way out of Fort Joy. Her default class is an Enchanter. Her origin quest is The Thing Inside.

Mahalia and Rahimus[]

Mahalia a custom created sourcerer.

Mahalia (female name) and Rahimus (male name) are custom sourcerers created by players. Their class specialisation, tags, gender, race and overall looks are determined only during the character creation (the overall looks have been expanded by Larian Studios through release of the first Gift Bag: Beauty Salon.) Alongside the choice of looks, players can also choose 2 tags that will determine the characters traits (example: Scholar, Noble etc.). Unlike the rest of the companions, custom godwoken do not have their own quests or tags. Their deity is determined by their race with the exception of Undead who will always be chosen by Amadia.

Unlike the rest of the companions, all custom created Sourcerers share a Source Skill: Dome of Protection.

Recruiting Mercenaries[]

Mercenaries are companions that can be recruited from Sergeant Zrilla, when the Godwoken reach Driftwood upon the Lady Vengeance ship. After Godwoken reach Arx, and if Malady is alive, Zrilla can be found on the ship that is stranded in Hall of Echoes. The price for hiring a mercenary will increase as the game progresses.

All mercenaries have unique names, source skills which correspond with skills that Godwoken has already unlocked and an innate Source skill Dome of Protection. Upon recruitment mercenaries will be the same level as the party, however their stats and abilities will already be set. The only thing player can decide is the selection of Talents, however all abilities and stats can be modified at Magic Mirror. Mercenaries also start with Starter, Novice and Adept (1-9 level) skills and spells that correspond with their class. The mercenaries only have racial and gender tags.

Temporary Companions[]

Temporary companions are NPCs which may under specific circumstances temporarily join the party and follow the main character. Once the conditions have been met, they will leave the party.

Alexandar

Alexandar can join the party, if he has been persuaded to abandon his pursuit of Divinity at the Academy of the Seven. He will join the party in the Arena of the One and will stay in the party for the time they traverse the location.

Delorus

Delorus may join the party on the Nameless Isle, if he was saved at Fort Joy. He will stay in the party until they reach Alexandar in the Temple of Tir-Cendelius.

Saheila

Saheila will join the party, once they had defeated Roost Anlon at Cullwoods Mill. She will stay with the party until they return to the Elven Camp. Her survival is tied to the main quest Powerful Awakening.

Origin characters[]

  • All Fort Joy attributes and skills are calculated at level 1 and are based upon the characters default class.
    • If character is recruited at higher level their abilities and stats will be adjusted. For example: Fane when recruited at level 2 will have 13 points in Intelligence and 12 in Constitution instead of 12 and 11.
    • If characters profesion is changed via recruitment dialogue their skills, talents and attributes will be different
  • All stats, abilities and skills can be readjusted via Magic Mirror at Lady Vengeance lower deck
  • Companions that have not been recruited on Fort Joy but are recruited on Lady Vengeance will be automatically levelled up to the same level the party has whilst retaining their skills from their default class at level 1. This allows for the additional allocation of skill and attribute points.
