“Deal earth damage and Knockdown enemy characters and items around you. Creates 8 random oil surfaces within the area.
„—Skill description
Earthquake is an adept Geomancer skill in Divinity: Original Sin II.
Description[]
Skill[]
Earthquake is a offensive geomancer skill that allows caster to conjure an earthquake where they stand. This earthquake will deal earth damage to all hostile characters up to 13 meters from the caster. All characters without Physical Armour will be afflicted with
Knocked Down status effect and will be unable to act for 1 turn. Should characters loose
Magic Armour they will suffer damage directly to their Vitality.
Alongside the earth damage, this skill will generate 8 oil surfaces (each roughly 3 meter radius but the actual size and shape varies greatly) in random places within the area of effect (AOE) of the skill. These surfaces may intersect. Should any character find themselves in them they will be afflicted with Slowed status effect for 2 turns.
Since Earthquake relies on Geomancy magic it cannot be cast if caster is affected by Silenced and
Enraged status effects. Earthquake skill is not reflected back when the target is under Deflective Barrier skill (Definitive Edition only).
Scroll and Skillbook[]
Earthquake skillbook is a magical item that allows its reader to learn Earthquake skill, if they have at least 2 points into Geomancer ability, and use it indefinitely. In order to be able to cast the skill, character needs 1 free memory slot. Note that the book will disappear once read. The book weights 0.5 and its base value is 500 gold. A skillbook can be crafted if a Earthquake scroll is combined with a Blank Earth Skillbook. Since Earthquake is an adept Geomancer skill, traders will start selling the skillbook once player character or their companions reach level 9.
Earthquake scroll is a magical item that allows any character to cast Earthquake skill, regardless of skill prerequisites, but only once. The only limiting element in casting Earthquake this way is the amount of Action Points (AP) character has at their disposal in current turn. The scroll is craftable, weights 0.02 and has base value of 260 gold.
The cost of Action Points between Earthquake scroll and Earthquake skill themselves remains the same. Both the scroll and the skill itself are affected by other skills and talents that may provide additional bonuses.
Skill Modifiers[]
Damage of this skill is calculated with the following formula: (Base Damage) x (1 + Elemental Bonus%) x (1 + Attribute Bonus% + Weapon Skill Bonus %) x (1 + High Ground Bonus% + Crit Bonus%) x ( 1 + Misc Bonus %)
The damage of this skill is affected by the following attributes of the caster:
- Level
- Geomancer ability
- Intelligence attribute
- Height bonus
- Critical Damage Modifier
Out of these the most effect on the damage have Level and then Geomancer ability as the latter increases damage by 5 % per point. Level provides greatest boost to the damage done. Intelligence provides the lowest bonus out of the three (3 points in Intelligence are equal to 1 point of Geomancer).
When it comes to enemies they may resist earth damage if they have: Earth Immunity Status and high enough Earth Resistance (which lowers earth damage done).
Earthquake properties can be affected by talents, consumable items (some of which may be affected by Five-Star Diner talent) and other skills.
