Detailed walkthrough[]
Following the wreckage in Act I, the Godwoken find him/herself alive on the shore of Fort Joy beach and his/her first objective becomes to find a way to escape from Fort Joy.
Entering Fort Joy[]
Going south, he/she eventually enter in Fort Joy ghetto; from there, a way should be found for sneaking into the Fort Joy proper, which is possible in several ways.
Finding Someone who knows a Way Out of the Fort[]
The most intuitive way to access the fort is following one of the related quests available at the ghetto. In particular, the following ways will eventually lead to the Holding Cells beneath the Fort:
- Speaking with Gawin and completing The Teleporter will leave the Godwoken alone on the ledge of Hidden Alcove. From there, he/she can find a passage to reach the shore beneath and subsequently entering the cavern which will lead into the Zillik's cell.
- Resolving the situation of The Imprisoned Elf freeing Amyro will allow him to share with the Godwoken the position of the entrance of an Underground Tunnel (the entrance may still be found without completing the quest with enough Wits). Following the underground path will eventually lead to Vasnya's cell.
- Finding Lord Withermoore and helping him with the spear during Withermoore's Soul Jar quest. He will then reveal an hidden passage behind the statue of Lucian in Fort Joy ghetto (the hidden button may however be found with enough Wits). Entering the revealed trapdoor will lead they protagonist underground and eventually to the Holding Cells, after opening the closed door using the lever.
- Winning the competition of The Arena of Fort Joy that will award the Godwoken enough prestige for making Nebora remove his/her collar (Hot Under the Collar quest). After that, if a Magister find the protagonist without the collar, the player may choose to surrender leading to be arrested and closed in the empty cell of the Holding Cells (Note: the door may be open with a Lockpick and sequestered equipment may be found in the large chest)
Independently of the way followed to reach the Holding Cells, the only way out is to retrieve the Prison Key from the group of Magisters on the east part of the area to open the door at north. Using the key will give access to the ground floor of Fort Joy.
Using the Force[]
If your party is strong enough, you may also directly attack Magister Borris and his comrades near the main gate of Fort Joy. One of them drops the key that opens the gate. Once inside, you may explore the outside area or going through the main door which give access to the ground floor (where you arrive passing by the Holding Cells).
Sneaking in the Fort by Yourself[]
Once the Gloves of Teleportation are retrieved during the quest The Teleporter, they could be used to teleport a party member to the ledge behind Mona's tent and have him/her to drop down the ladder to help the rest of the party to climb up. From there, the Godwoken may enter the Orivand's Chambers (it does require Lockpicking or the key given by Magister Yarrow at the end of The Murderous Gheist) or may sneak behind the guards at the front gate and entering the fort proper.
Leaving Fort Joy[]
Once entered the Fort, again there are several ways to escape from it:
- On the ground floor of Fort Joy, you may approach the two magisters that are tormenting a kid on the south side. If you saved Delorus in the Holding Cells, you may know the password to make them leave you proceed further, otherwise you may just kill them. Either ways, the kid will them approach the boat and interacting with him will allow the Godwoken to leave Fort Joy and reach the beach just east of the Fort.
- From ground floor, you may also enter The Flenser's playground, face up Kniles and his minions and reach for the sewer gate on the far east of the area. The gate will give direct access to Hollow Marshes and may be used on the other side to re-enter the Fort.
- From the Hall of Penitence on the first floor of the fort, after facing up High Judge Orivand, you may access to the balcony on the lower-east side of the room. From there, the Godwoken can leave the fort jumping down into the Hollow Marshes.
- From the upper outside area of Fort Joy, you may lower the drawbridge, activating the related mechanism. The bridge will allow the Godwoken to reach the Hollow Marshes and may be used to come back to the fort.
- From the upper outside area of Fort Joy, you may also access the Fort Joy harbour, using the key dropped by Magister Trippel. After facing up all the magisters populating the area, you may leave the fort through the passage in the water, accessing the north beach of Hollow Marshes.
After leaving the fort, the character is awarded with experience and a new quest is acquired.
Note: Independently of the way used to leave Fort Joy, it is suggested to go back and explore all the remaining areas for loot and experience
Rewards[]
- 14 400 experience
- Starting the sub-quest Path of the Soul by accepting Withermoore's deal grants 1200 experience to whole party (at level 3)
