Paladins

Paladins are the oldest and the first division of the Divine Order. They were the first followers of Lucian and are constantly at war with the Black Ring and until 1242 AD they also battled the Voidwoken.

Background[]

1218 - 1233 AD[]

Paladins are the first and the core division of the Order. Paladins came mostly from noble families and various warrior guilds who followed Lucian after he defeated the Demon of Lies in 1218 AD. For most of the time Divine Order was made only from paladins. It was only after he faked his death in 1233 AD that Magisters and Seekers became members of the order.

1234-1242 AD[]

During this time Paladins were at odds with Magisters. The reason for this was the dispute over Lucians remains and were to house them. The argument between Magisters and paladins almost ended with bloody conflict were it not for Alexandar. In the end Lucians remains were housed in Arx (in crypt beneath the Cathedral). Over the years however Paladins started to suspect the Magisters of colluding with the Black Ring and because of this, lord Linder Kemm commanded to have the magisters executed.

1242 - 1244 AD[]

During these events the Order most probably returned to its "roots" although it is not known what happened to the Magister and Seeker faction and what was these factions relations to the Paladins after Lucian returned.

1244 - 1250 AD[]

During these years (most probably events of Divinity Fallen Heroes) the Order wages war with the Black Ring and their armies of demons and undead. The Order during this time forges an alliance with Dragon Knights. During the war Damian charms a dragon knight and uses him to attack the Divine and imprison him in Plane of Hypnerotomachia . This event marked Dragon Knights as betrayers and fractured the order.

1250-1300 AD[]

After the Divine was "assasinated" Lord Arben and other most prominent knights of the Order banded together in Rivertowns cathedral and created Dragon Slayers. A division, made out of old members of the Divine Order, dedicated to hunting down and exterminating the "Betrayers". The old Divine Order paladins were supposedly disbanded, became inactive or retired.

1300 AD[]

After the slayer turned Dragon Knight freed Lucian from his prison in Plane of Hypnerotomachia and destroyed Damians Palace the Dragon Slayers are supposed to be disbanded. Whether Paladins became active once again or not is not known.

Known Leaders[]

As members of the Divine Order paladins ultimately follow Lucian. Although during the years each faction has developed its own leaders or generals to whom soldiers usually pay respect.

Symbols and Uniforms[]

Paladins always wear white, golden and blue robes and armor with symbol of eagle or owl. They value bravery, wisdom and loyalty to the Divine above all. These motives and colors are often found on their armor, weaponry and also tents.
