Physical and Magical armor is a new mechanic introduced in Divinity: Original Sin 2 to add more depth to combat by introducing a new obstacle to plan around, where as in DoS1 it was easier to bombard the enemy with damage without a second thought. In DoS2 you will have to scout out your enemies, if you know they are there, and discover their Armor and plan accordingly.

How it works Edit

Physical and Magical armor both serve the purposes of reducing damage and stopping disabling attacks, however as the names suggest they only affect an attack of the same type, Physical attacks will only be stopped by Physical Armor and the same goes for Magical Armor.

Damage cannot be done to an enemy or yourself unless the armor bar is broken by the same type of damage or if an ability has a piercing affect that goes through armor.

Source of armor Edit

Both Physical and Magical armor can come from a multitude of sources, the most common and influential on your stats would be armor itself. Other methods of raising your Armors include..

  1. Raising stats. Strength raises Physical Armor and Intelligence raises Magical Armor.
  2. Equipping new armor.
  3. Some abilities and talents will raise your armor.
  4. Foods and potions may temporarily increase or restore your armor.

What does it block Edit

As stated before Physical and Magical Armor both block specific types of damage and disabling effects, some effects may overlap.
