“Poison erupts from the caster in a circular wave, dealing poison damage and forming poison clouds. Gives immunity to poison and earth damage for one turn.
„—Skill description
Poison wave is an adept geomancer skill in Divinity: Original Sin II.
Description[]
Skill[]
Poison Wave is a offensive geomancer skill that allows caster to release a poisonous wave around themselves which will create poisonous clouds (which do not disappear) in 4 meter radius. This wave does poison damage to all hostile characters. The caster themselves will be fortified with an Earth Immunity status effect which increases their Earth and Poison resistances by 100 % and grants them immunity to Poisoned and Petrified status effects for 1 turn.
Characters without Magic Armour will be afflicted with Poisoned status effect for 2 turns and suffer damage directly to their health, with the exception of allied Undead who will receive Poisoned status effect regardless of their armour values and restore their health in proportion to the poison damage dealt by the status.
Since Poison Wave relies on Geomancy magic it cannot be cast if caster is affected by Silenced and Enraged status effects. Poison Wave skill is not reflected back when the target is under Deflective Barrier skill (Definitive Edition only).
Scroll and Skillbook[]
Poison Wave skillbook is a magical item that allows its reader to learn Poison Wave skill, if they have at least 2 points into Geomancer ability, and use it indefinitely. In order to be able to cast the skill, character needs 1 free memory slot. Note that the book will disappear once read. The book weights 0.5 and its base value is 500 gold. A skillbook can be crafted if a Poison Wave scroll is combined with a Blank Earth Skillbook. Since Poison Wave is an adept Geomancer skill, traders will start selling the skillbook once Godwoken reach level 9.
Poison Wave scroll is a magical item that allows any character to cast Poison Wave skill, regardless of skill prerequisites, but only once. The only limiting element in casting Poison Wave this way is the amount of Action Points (AP) character has at their disposal in current turn. The scroll is craftable, weights 0.02 and has base value of 260 gold.
The cost of Action Points between Poison Wave scroll and Poison Wave skill themselves remains the same. Both the scroll and the skill itself are affected by other skills and talents that may provide additional bonuses.
Skill Modifiers[]
Damage of this skill is calculated with the following formula: (Base Damage) x (1 + Elemental Bonus%) x (1 + Attribute Bonus% + Weapon Skill Bonus %) x (1 + High Ground Bonus% + Crit Bonus%) x ( 1 + Misc Bonus %)
The damage of this skill is affected by the following attributes of the caster:
- Level
- Geomancer ability
- Intelligence attribute
- Critical Damage Modifier
Out of these the most effect on the damage have Level and then Geomancer ability as the latter increases damage by 5 % per point. Level provides greatest boost to the damage done. Intelligence provides the lowest bonus out of the three (3 points in Intelligence are equal to 1 point of Geomancer).
When it comes to enemies they may resist poison damage if they have: Poison Immunity Status and high enough Poison Resistance (which lowers poison damage done). Additionally any character that is Undead or has the talent Undead, will automatically have + 200 % Poison Resistance which will cause them to heal from all poison damage done.
Poison Wave properties can be affected by talents, consumable items (some of which may be affected by Five-Star Diner talent) and other skills.
