“Destroy Magic Armour and silence all enemies within a cone in front of you.
„—Skill description
Silencing Stare is a master necromancer skill in Divinity: Original Sin II.
Description[]
Skill[]
Silencing Stare is a offensive necromancer skill that allows caster to curse the hostile characters in their sight (cone area) up to 13 meters. All hostile characters affected by the skill will take Magic Armour damage. Characters without Magic Armour are afflicted with Silenced status effect that makes them unable to cast magic-based skills for 1 turn.
Since Silencing Stare relies on Necromancy magic it cannot be cast if caster is affected by Silenced and Enraged status effects.
Scroll and Skillbook[]
Silencing Stare skillbook is a magical item that allows its reader to learn Silencing Stare skill, if they have at least 3 points into Necromancer ability, and use it indefinitely. In order to be able to cast the skill, character needs 1 free memory slot. Note that the book will disappear once read. The book weights 0.5 and its base value is 1400 gold. A skillbook can be crafted if a Silencing Stare scroll is combined with a High Tier Blank Necromancy Skillbook. Since Silencing Stare is a master Necromancer skill, traders will start selling the skillbook once Godwoken reach level 16.
Silencing Stare scroll is a magical item that allows any character to cast Silencing Stare skill, regardless of skill prerequisites, but only once. The only limiting element in casting Silencing Stare this way is the amount of Action Points character has at their disposal in current turn. The scroll is craftable, weights 0.02 and has base value of 350 gold.
The cost of Action Points between Silencing Stare scroll and Silencing Stare skill themselves remains the same. Both the scroll and the skill itself are affected by other skills and talents that may provide additional bonuses.
Skill Modifiers[]
Damage of this skill is calculated with the following formula: (Base Damage) x (1 + Elemental Bonus%) x (1 + Attribute Bonus% + Weapon Skill Bonus %) x (1 + High Ground Bonus% + Crit Bonus%) x ( 1 + Misc Bonus %)
The damage of this skill is affected by the following attributes of the caster:
- Level
- Intelligence attribute
- Critical Damage Modifier
Since Silencing Stare does Magic Armour damage it will never damage Vitality of affected characters. This damage cannot be further improved through abilities, only the level and amount points invested in Intelligence attribute affects the damage done. Since Silencing Stare destroys only the Magic Armour it will never benefit from the Necromancer ability as it calculates healing based on the damage done to Vitality itself.
Silencing Stare properties can be affected by talents, consumable items (some of which may be affected by Five-Star Diner talent) and other skills.
