Silent monks are former Sourcerers who have been drained of their Source by the Magisters of the Divine Order.

Background[]

For the majority of silent monks, they were originally those who have been identified as Sourcerers, who were then collared and sent to the island prison Fort Joy on Reapers' Eye by the order of the Divine Order. Although the pretext of this was to keep the world safe from the voidwoken, the reality for these individuals was that they were purged of their Source energy and condemned to be thralls to the Magisters that purged them. This however is happening outside of the knowledge and large approval or the Paladins (oldest faction within the Divine Order) who sent Cork unto Fort Joy in order to investigate their suspicions. [1]

Stripped of their freedom and self thought, silent monks are barely alive; with only their physical characteristics to reflect who they were. In addition to this, they still retain the skills they had prior to the purge, humans are physically strong, elves are magically imbued etc.
